Incident occurred March 20, 2016 at Nashville International Airport (KBNA), Davidson County, Tennessee

UPDATE: American Airlines tells FOXS 17 News that the aircraft is found to have no damage after inspection and is on the runway for takeoff at 1pm. 

There are 140 passengers on board. 

It is unknown what type of bird or how many hit the plane.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A bird strike occurred on American Airlines flight 248 that had departed Nashville International Airport for Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas.

The plane turned around and landed safely back at BNA at 10:45 a.m. 

The plane is now being checked out to see if they need to switch planes, according to Shannon Sumrall of the airport.
