Report of downed aircraft was false alarm

If you were able to look out over the Lake of Two Mountains last evening you may have wondered what was going on.

Turns out that the 911 call about a plane crash on the lake was a false alarm.

The call came in around six, and the all clear was sounded at around ten last night.

At one point a helicopter which had flown in from CFB Trenton was sweeping the ice with a searchlight while firefighters on ATV's were on the ice looking for wreckage.

Officials say they think a pilot may have been having some sort of mechanical problem but recovered.
