Phoenix-bound flight diverted because of fumes in cockpit

A plane bound for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport from Washington, D.C., was diverted to Albuquerque after fumes were reported in the cockpit, officials said.

America West Flight 583 from Reagan National Airport landed at Albuquerque International Sunport without incident about 9:30 a.m., FAA spokesman Ian Gregor said.

There were 112 passengers on board, and the flight is expected to resume on another plane leaving Albuquerque around 11:35 a.m. to Phoenix, officials said.
