Analysis
The pilot reported that, during landing, the airplane landed hard and bounced. He decided to go around, so he added full power, but the nose pitched up sharply. He added that he attempted to lower the nose, but the airspeed decreased, and the airplane "lost lift on [the] right side." He pushed forward on the control yoke, but the airplane drifted right, the right wing aerodynamically stalled, and the airplane impacted the ground next to a taxiway and spun around. A passenger saw a fire in front of the firewall, and all occupants exited the airplane.
The airplane was destroyed by postaccident fire.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
A Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) inspector reported that the pilot stated he used nose-up trim during the approach. The pilot also stated that, during the go-around, he attempted to use the electric trim to trim nose down. When the airplane nosed up, the pilot attempted to lower the nose but hesitated due to the airplane being near the ground, and he retracted the flaps. The FAA inspector examined the airplane and found that the trim setting was "just short of full nose up trim."

MARION, Indiana (WTHR) – Officials say a plane has crashed at the Marion Municipal Airport in Grant County Sunday afternoon.
The Federal Aviation Administration says a single-engine Cessna 182 crashed while landing at the Marion airport around 4:20 p.m.
Witnesses tell Eyewitness News they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the airport.
According to an FAA spokesman, the aircraft was destroyed by the fire.
Officials say four people were on board at the time of the crash but their conditions are unknown at this time.
The National Transportation Safety Board will be in charge of the investigation.
This is the second plane crash in Indiana today.
This morning, a man was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after crashing a plane at Anderson Municipal Airport.

Witnesses at the scene told News 8 the plane, which crashed around 5:15 pm. at the Marion Municipal Airport, caught on fire at some point.
There were four people onboard.
The cause of the crash was still under investigation on Sunday night.
The plane crash in Marion was the second plane crash reported on Sunday in central Indiana.
Early Sunday morning a plane crashed in Anderson, seriously injuring its pilot.

MARION, Indiana — Officials confirm a plane has crashed at the Marion Municipal Airport.
Police say there are no fatalities in this crash.
According to airport manager Andy Darlington, none of the four people on board the plane required an ambulance.
Darlington says the accident happened Sunday around 5:15 p.m. The plane was based in Marion and the belief is they were attempting to land.
This is the second plane crash to occur in Indiana today. A man had to be medically airlifted to a hospital after crashing a plane in Anderson.
