The pilot of the retractable landing gear equipped-airplane reported that, while in the traffic pattern, he was distracted looking for other aircraft and failed to continue the landing checklist, but assumed it was completed. During approach, he reduced power, but did not hear the landing gear warning horn. The pilot then landed the airplane with the landing gear retracted.
The pilot added that, during the recovery process with a tow truck, they attempted to troubleshoot the landing gear warning system, but they did not hear the landing gear warning horn again.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing.
Postaccident examination by the Federal Aviation Administrator inspector revealed that the landing gear audible warning horn switch on the bulkhead (engine compartment) was improperly rigged and the horn did not sound when tested. He added that the airplane was equipped with a mirror on the right wing which the pilot could have used to visually check if the landing gear was extended.

The pilot of the tailwheel, ski-equipped airplane reported that, while landing off airport, on a snow-covered ridge, the back of the right ski struck about a 6" tall, firm snow drift. The right ski then pitched forward, the tip dug into the "crusty" snow, and the airplane nosed over.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage, empennage, and lift strut.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

COLFAX, Washington - A pilot received minor injures but didn't need medical attention after a single engine plane crash south of Pullman Airport.
The Whitman County Sheriff's Office responded to the report of a single engine plane crash shortly after noon on Saturday, March 9.
Initial reports indicated the pilot was practicing "touch-and-go" landings in a field near the airport while piloting his 1964 Piper Super Cub aircraft.
The aircraft had skids on the landing gear for use on snow fields or frozen terrain, according to the Sheriff's Office. During an attempt to land the plane, it appeared one of the skids dug into the field, causing the plane to flip, landing on its top.

A 63-year old Pullman man piloting a single-engine plane suffered minor injuries after the plane crashed at about noon today in a field between Pullman and Moscow.
Keith Kopf was practicing touch-and-go landings on frozen terrain in a field near the Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport, when one of the skids on his 1964 Super Cub Aircraft dug into the dirt, causing the airplane to flip, according to a media release from the Whitman County Sheriff’s Office.
The plane landed on its top.
Kopf did not require medical attention, the release stated. He was the only occupant in the plane.

BENTON, Kansas (KAKE) - Authorities say no one was seriously hurt when a student pilot crashed a small plane into a home in Butler County.
The accident happened at around 1:15 p.m. Monday on the west side of Lloyd Stearman Field in Benton.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the pilot crashed the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog after landing.
Witnesses who were eating at Stearman Field Bar & Grill said they saw the plane crash into the house but didn't know if it was landing or taking off.
No one was in the home at the time. The Kansas Highway Patrol lists the pilot as Victor Riffel, 65 of Benton. His passenger, Joseph Bertapelle, 35, of Derby, was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

BENTON, Kansas (KAKE) - Authorities say no one was seriously hurt when a student pilot crashed a small plane into a home in Butler County.
The accident happened at around 1:15 p.m. Monday on the west side of Lloyd Stearman Field in Benton.
The Kansas Highway Patrol says the pilot crashed the Cessna L-19 Bird Dog after landing.
Witnesses who were eating at Stearman Field Bar & Grill said they saw the plane crash into the house but didn't know if it was landing or taking off.
No one was in the home at the time. The Kansas Highway Patrol lists the pilot as Victor Riffel, 65 of Benton. His passenger, Joseph Bertapelle, 35, of Derby, was taken to Wesley Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
