Learjet 60, N59: Incident occurred October 29, 2021 at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (KSEA), King County, Washington

KING COUNTY, Washington — A Learjet 60 made an emergency landing at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport on Friday evening after pilots noted hydraulic problems shortly after takeoff.

The Learjet 60 was forced to turn around and landed safely after circling in the air for about two hours to burn fuel.

The Port of Seattle sent fire trucks to assess the situation.

Three were on board, and no one was hurt.

The plane was towed to the west side of the airport, where small aircraft are normally parked.

The issues initially reported have yet to be determined.

The Federal Aviation Administration will investigate.

On October 28, 2021, about 1626 central daylight time, a Beech K35, N899RW, was substantially damaged when it was involved in an accident near Hammond, Louisiana. The pilot and two passengers were not injured. The airplane was operated as a Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations Part 91 personal flight.

The pilot reported that the airplane was on approach to the Hammond Northshore Regional Airport (HDC), Hammond, Louisiana. Shortly after being cleared to land on runway 31, smoke filled the cockpit and the oil pressure gauge indicated zero. Unable to make the runway, the pilot declared an emergency and made a left turn toward the westbound lanes of a nearby interstate. The airplane touched down in between traffic and the right wing struck a truck. The airplane swerved right then left and exited the interstate pavement. The airplane came to rest came to rest nose down against the median fence. The right wing sustained substantial damage.

During airplane recovery, a heavy coating of oil was observed on the airplane’s belly and some oil was noted on the right-side engine cowling and fuselage.
