The Victoria Regional Airport commission members will get an update about the airport's 20-year master plan at its Thursday meeting.
"The master plan's ongoing and a big issue," Precinct 4 Commissioner Clint Ives said. "It's something we work on every five years."
Ives said the plan is always updated because it's a part of the requirements to make sure the airport continues to receive federal funding.
Since Jan. 1, Victoria Regional Airport has seen 2,067 passengers board planes.
In 2015, the Federal Aviation Administration recorded 3,584 passengers boarding planes at the airport.
To keep federal funding, an airport must also have at least 10 passengers boarding a plane every day.
Victoria County plans to contribute funds in the upcoming year to improve the airport as well.
Texas Sky Airlines is considering re-instating flights to Dallas from Victoria.
The update to the plan includes infrastructure improvements to runways and its sewer system.
Texas A&M University's Texas Transportation Institute has been working on the update to the airport's master plan.
