The landing gear of a small airplane collapsed when it attempted to land at the Naples airport Saturday morning.

The crash happened around 8:45 a.m., Naples Fire Battalion Chief Tim Bruener said. The pilot of the two-seat, single-engine Mooney airplane was not injured.

“He walked away,” Bruener said. “He was the only person on board.”

The plane was removed from the runway.
