Augusta Regional Airport (KAGS) Receives FAA Award

Augusta , GA -

Augusta, Georgia, December 2, 2013 — Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) has been presented a prestigious Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) award, Airport Safety Mark of Distinction, for the continuing efforts to improve airport safety.

Every year the FAA presents the Airport Safety Mark of Distinction award to airports that have displayed great efforts to enhance and preserve airport safety. Nominations for the award are based on the recommendation of the FAA Southern Region Airport Certification Safety Inspector assigned to that airport.

AGS was one of only five airports in the southeast to receive this award. The Airport was recognized for its support of Aircraft Rescue Firefighting training improvements, development of a streamlined work order process, implementation of a successful crack seal project, prevention of runway incursions, and development of a Wildlife Hazard Management plan.

"Very few airports are privileged to have won this award" said Gary LeTellier, Augusta Regional Airport's Executive Director. "The Airport places a high priority on safety and we are honored that the FAA has recognized all of our hard work and dedication."
