The pilot of the tailwheel equipped airplane reported that, after a three-point landing, the airplane began to "shudder" and veered left. He corrected with forward pressure to the control stick and opposite rudder and the airplane's tail raised off the runway and the airplane regained the runway heading. As the airspeed decreased, the tailwheel touched down again on the runway, and the airplane shuddered and veered left again. He corrected with opposite rudder, left brake and aileron, but the airplane ground looped to the left, and the main landing gears collapsed.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the fuselage.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.
The pilot added that, about one hour prior to the accident, the wind was from 340ยบ at 12 knots, gusting 17 knots. The automated weather observation station located on the airport reported that, about the time the accident, the wind was from 340° at 8 knots. The airplane landed on runway 5.

There were no reported injuries after a plane ran off the runway at the North Myrtle Beach airport Monday morning.
At about 11 a.m., emergency crews responded to the Grand Strand Airport for reports of a crash. North Myrtle Spokesman Pat Dowling said a biplane ran off the runway, possibly due to a landing gear problem.
The plane is used to fly tourists around the beach area. Two passengers and a pilot were on board when it went off the runway. There were no reported injuries.
Tina Farley lives near the airport and said she didn't hear a loud crash. She only noticed there was activity at the airport when fire crews passed. Other neighbors said they haven't seen a crash in years of living nearby.
The red biplane sat on the runway with one of its wings tilted into a ditch as emergency crews worked the scene. A small crowd gathered along the fence of the airport after they heard reports of the crash.
Representatives for the plane company did not respond to requests for comment after the crash.
