MORRIS — Stevens County emergency responders were called to the Morris Municipal Airport on Thursday, May 26 to assist with an emergency landing of a small plane.

The Morris Fire Department was called out to the airport just after 6:30 p.m. to prepare for the emergency landing. The plane was experiencing mechanical issues with the landing gear.

The MFD responded with two fire engines, one heavy rescue truck, one brush truck and one water tanker. They also set up cones on the grass runway where they applied foam and water in case of fire during the landing.

The pilot made a successful emergency landing without any landing gear and kept the plane upright. The pilot was the only one on board and did not sustain any injuries.

"The pilot did a very good job considering the circumstance," said Fire Chief Dave Dybdal.

Also responding to the scene were the Stevens County Ambulance, Morris Police Department, and Stevens County Sheriff's Office. The FAA was also contacted to investigate the emergency landing.
