An American Airlines passenger is taken to the hospital after a flight makes an emergency landing at Rockford Chicago International Airport Friday night.

Airport Fire Department Deputy Chief Brian Kunce told 13 News a plane was headed to O'Hare in Chicago when it diverted to Rockford.

Emergency responders were initially told a passenger was not breathing, but it turned out the passenger was breathing just fine.

The other passengers were bused to Chicago to make their connecting flights.

A spokesman for the airline said an ill passenger on the flight from Vail, CO, to Chicago caused the pilot to land at the nearest airport.
