Syracuse (WSYR-TV) -- The
174th Attack Wing has suspended the ground search for MQ-9 reaper drone
debris, after the aircraft crashed into Lake Ontario on Nov. 12 during a
routine training mission.
U.S. Navy experts arrived at the
Oswego Coast Guard Station on Wednesday, Nov. 20 to prepare for search
and recovery efforts that may use Navy salvage divers to retrieve the
MQ-9 wreckage.
The Air Force Accident Investigation Board continues to investigate the incident.
The
MQ-9 aircraft debris does not contain hazardous materials but officials
say any material found should be handled with caution.
The 174th
Attack Wing is asking that if people find any aircraft debris that they
call the wing's Emergency Operations Center at 315-233-2257 or 2258.
