American Airlines flight diverted to Nashville; All safe

A Philadelphia-to-Dallas American Airlines flight was diverted to Nashville after a warning light signaled a possible malfunction.

Emily Richard, spokesperson for the Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority, said the plane landed safely.

No injuries were reported.

Airlines spokesman Tim Smith said the 140 passengers and five crew members are fine after a normal landing Monday.

Smith said the crew decided to divert to Nashville after the warning light showed possible overheating in the tail cone.

The crew "went through some procedures" and the light went off before they were on the ground, but they landed anyway out of an abundance of caution.

Flight 1289 left Philadelphia at 11:15 a.m. EST and landed at Nashville International Airport at 1:22 p.m. CST.

Smith said another plane was coming from St. Louis to pick up the passengers and they would land at Dallas-Fort Worth in the late afternoon.
