The pilot of a single-engine Cessna 182Q made an emergency landing on the Texas 121 service road in Allen Thursday morning, the FAA confirms.

The FAA said the pilot was in communication with a controller when he lost engine power and said he wouldn't be able to make it back to an airport.

The pilot put the plane down on the south side of Texas 121, east of Custer Road, just before 9 a.m.

Only the pilot was on board and no injuries were reported.

Allen police later helped move the plane to a field adjacent to the service road. Traffic along the service road has been reduced to one lane while the scene is cleared.

A small plane made an emergency landing on the Sam Rayburn Tollway service road in Allen Thursday morning.

The pilot of the single-engine Cessna reported losing engine power before landing on the service road, according to Federal Aviation Administration spokesperson Lynn Lunsford.

He landed on the northbound service road just before 9 a.m. after determining he wouldn't make it to an airport, Lunsford said.

Viewer Michael Gonterwitz tweeted a photo of the plane, which he said landed between Custer Road and Exchange Parkway.

Only one person was on board the plane and no injuries had been reported.

The emergency landing wasn't the end of the plane's troubles Thursday. Video of it being towed away shows the plane swerving side to side down the road.
