Second WWII hangar at Stewart International Airport to come down

NEW WINDSOR – For decades a pair of World War II vintage aircraft hangars sat along First Street at Stewart Airport, adjacent to the passenger terminal.

Earlier this year, one was razed and now, airport Business Development Director Michael Torelli said the twin facility is facing the same fate.

“Hangar B is down and we are mobilizing to take down Hangar A as well. Both of those past their useful life and we look forward to, maybe, some positive development coming upon those sites in the very near future,” Torelli said.

Speculation is that Norwegian Airlines, which will start international service to Europe in the new year, might use some of that space for its operations.
