WORCESTER -- Rectrix Commercial Aviation Services plans to offer flights from the Worcester Regional Airport to Baltimore within a year, the company's chief executive officer announced at a recent Worcester Regional Chamber of Commerce event.
The Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports that Richard Cawley, Rectrix's chief executive officer, said Rectrix is working with state and federal authorities in order to create a commercial flight service from Worcester Regional Airport to Baltimore Washington International Airport.
The plan is to have a commercial flight leave Worcester once daily and head to Baltimore then to Sarasota, Florida, the newspaper reported.
Last month, the company announced Worcester Regional Airport will be the home of its maintenance base-of-operations. The company built a $5 million hanger at the airport as well.
Rectrix is the largest Massachusetts-based private jet operator. It relocated the maintenance operations to their Aerodrome facility, which opened at Worcester Regional Airport in 2015.
"Worcester Regional Airport is essentially a Boston Metro airport operation for us," Rectrix CEO Richard Cawley said in a statement at the time. "Given today's positive economic growth in the Bay State, recognizing Worcester Regional as a Boston Metro airport only makes sense as more and more companies expand to the Framingham, Marlborough and Worcester areas."
