Rapid City, SD The Rapid City Regional Airport is flying to new heights. Officials are in talks with airline carriers to bring more service to the area.
The airport hopes to add flights to Seattle through Alaska Airlines - and develop the current Atlanta and Houston routes.
Both those nonstop destinations are weekly during Summer - but could become year-round deals.
Tonie Broom, with the Rapid City Regional Airport, said "It's just more opportunity on the outbound, for our residents to hit more international destinations by getting on those coastal cities. As well as people coming to the Black Hills would definitely impact the tourism dollars."
It could take up to 5 years or more before flyers see any changes.
Rapid City Regional Airport has seen up to a one percent increase in passengers every year since 2013.
