Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office sending report on ex-airport director incident to District Attorney's Office: Lafayette Regional Airport (KLFT), Louisiana

A police report on an incident that prompted the sudden retirement last week of Lafayette Regional Airport Aviation Director Greg Roberts will be sent to the District Attorney's Office.

Roberts, who retired suddenly June 15 after 21 years with the airport, had been placed on administrative leave two days earlier when Airport Commission Chairman Matt Cruse learned about an incident that occurred June 11.

Cruse said the incident took place at the airport's administrative offices during a meeting with Roberts, contract engineers and staff. He would not disclose the nature of the incident, but said law enforcement had been notified.

An incident report was taken by the Lafayette Parish Sheriff's Office, spokesman Craig Stansbury said today.

"There's really no more for us to look into," he told The Daily Advertiser. "Nobody is complaining about being a victim."

The report will be sent to the District Attorney's Office, which will decide whether to prosecute the case, Stansbury said.

Deputy Director of Aviation Mike Burrows was appointed to replace Roberts in the interim, and a national search will be launched for a permanent replacement.
