Thirsty warbirds need juice at Wings, Wheels, Rotors & Expo 2014

The 13th Annual Wings, Wheels,  Rotors & Expo, a popular regional event, is fast approaching. This year WWRE is on Sunday, October 26, on the flightline at Los Alamitos Army Airfield.

Among the many activities, functions and displays, will be numerous vintage aircraft and military warbirds. These warbirds are classic military aircraft, mainly from the World War Two era but some from other historical flying times.

These special flying machines are expensive investments for their owners and pilots. They will not charge the event for performance fees if WWRE can reimburse them for the aviation gas to get them here and then back to their home airfields.

We are talking about aircraft like a C-53 dropping parachutists, the P-51 Mustang and F6F Hellcat. Also, maybe the P-38 Lighting, P-40 Warhawk, F4U Corsair, P-47 Thunderbolt and B-25. Along with vintage trainers like the AT-6 and T-28. Maybe others have some suggestions of aircraft they would like to see at WWRE.

WWRE is initiating a aviation gas sponsor and funding campaign to off set these costs. If you are interested in sponsoring a vintage aircraft or know of someone or a business that would be interested in sponsoring a warbird, please send them to the Los Alamitos Chamber.

Also, any fuel donations or contributions will be accepted. Call 562-598-6659 for more information and check www.WWRExpo.net.

With some aviation fuel we should be able to have a good turnout of these classic aeroplanes in the air and on the ground for all to view.

Wings Wheels and Rotors 2014 is expected to be another great event with a large turnout and the usual spectacular activities and displays.

The car show should bring in over 500 cars and WWRE expects plenty of helicopters and military aircraft. The Young Eagles will be flying youth between the ages of 8-17 years of age with parental permission for free and Star Helicopters is offering helicopter flights for hire. There should be plenty of food and entertainment plus vendors and interesting demonstrations and exhibitors, as well!

See you all on the flightline at Los Alamitos Army Airfield on Sunday, October 26!
