Firefighters respond to gas leak near Millville Municipal Airport (KMIV), New Jersey

MILLVILLE — City firefighters responded to a gas leak near the Millville Municipal Airport Thursday morning, according to authorities, shutting down the area.

The gas leak occurred around 11:42 a.m., according to Christine Tonetta, firefighter for Millville Fire Department.

The firefighters closed off the Bogden Boulevard area, surrounding the Millville Airport Industrial Park, until South Jersey Gas responded to the leak.

The leak was caused by a backhoe striking a high pressure gas line, according to officials.

South Jersey Gas shut down the damaged gas line around 12:30 p.m., officials said.
