HOLLAND -- Tulip City Airport is going regional -- at least in terms of its name.
The Holland Sentinel today reported the West Michigan Airport Authority has voted to change the airport's name to West Michigan Regional Airport.
The airport was established in the early 1940s and today serves as a base for corporate, charter and private plane flights. The airport does not offer scheduled commercial service.
Since 2008 the airport has been governed by the WMAA, with representatives from the city of Holland, Park Township and city of Zeeland.
