LAS CRUCES - The Federal Aviation Administration reports the plane that crashed Friday at the Las Cruces Airport lost engine power on departure and landed in the desert near the airport.
Dan Trujillo, a spokesperson for the Las Cruces Police Department, reports no one was injured in the crash.
The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are heading the investigation.
LAS CRUCES - Several local and state law enforcement agencies responded Friday afternoon to reports that a small plane had crashed just east of the Las Cruces International Airport.
Dan Trujillo, a spokesperson for the Las Cruces Police Department, reports no one was injured in the crash. Dusty Francisco, a spokesperson for New Mexico State Police, described the crash as minor, and said it involved a small, two-seater aircraft.
After a brief investigation at the site, authorities said the investigation would be turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board to discover the cause of the crash.
