A South African charter
plane made an emergency landing at Husein Sastranegara Airport in
Bandung, West Java on Tuesday evening. The King Air Charter’s BE190D was
en route to Banda Aceh, Aceh, from Dili in Timor Leste.
As
reported by kompas.com, Pilot Capt. Neil Graham Jones said that the
plane, which was carrying three crewmembers, had a problem with its
outer right main wheel when taking off at Dili’s airport.
Husein
Sastranegara on-duty safety officer Capt. Bashori said Wednesday that
Jones asked for permission to make an emergency landing at 12:10 p.m.
Bashori
said that a rescue team was immediately deployed to safeguard the
landing. The plane managed to land on the airport’s runway 29 albeit
without its outer right main wheel.
On the flight plan, the
plane—registered as ZS-PJY—should have made a fuel transit in Bandung
before continuing the journey to Banda Aceh.
