In fact owner/operators can do preventive maintenance. I study to be an A&P not out of fancy but out of the need to learn and because my ass is in that airplane. The Cirrus is relatively forgiving given its speed is 50-70% higher and its kinetic energy is at least twice as much considering not only a cruise of 150-190 but also a landing at 75 kn. It is a high performance slick machine which safety features barely compensate for the skills needed to fly it.MarcPilotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6060827553081940333.post-10037402667071005692019-12-03T08:31:33.385-05:002019-12-03T08:31:33.385-05:00@MarcPilot

Historically, according to the Nall report, pilot error runs about 75%, mechanical runs about 15%, and "unknown" about 10%. Even if we assume the 10% is pilot error it still totals a bit less than 99%.

Although both are fixed gear single engine, the Cirrus is not a 172 and the insurance rates are not close.
<brAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6060827553081940333.post-48887023201563514822019-11-13T16:50:51.971-05:002019-11-13T16:50:51.971-05:00Parachute deployed after the crash.Parachute deployed after the crash.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6060827553081940333.post-58898262459244396632019-11-12T20:55:06.203-05:002019-11-12T20:55:06.203-05:00The SR20 and SR22 are quite capable business aircr...The SR20 and SR22 are quite capable business aircrafts geared towards part 135 operators in the 21th century (and may I say the BRS system is a good thing to tell potential paying PAX for marketing reasons, and sets it apart from any commercial flight with a B737 or airbus etc...).
It has tons of goodies for safety the FAA loves and getting an air taxi operator certificate with it seems to MarcPilotnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6060827553081940333.post-90594543212329000172019-11-12T11:08:09.864-05:002019-11-12T11:08:09.864-05:00That parachute cooked off after the crash.
