Fastest piston twin in the world, if I'm not mistaken. And one thing I've never forgotten: it's better to go off the end of the runway slowing down than to come up short of it. Seems like he was trying to save his plane. Once I was practicing approached and overshoots in our 421C. Nice Continental RAM engines - but temperamental. On my first go around, at @ 800 ft. AGL, first the right, then the left engine stumbled and ran rough at minimum power. I had flooded them by putting "everything forward" for the climb. On more than one occasion we lost all boost on one engine at altitude. The engine continues to run but at 23000 it would only give around 15 inches of MAP which means your not going to hold altitude and are forced to descend to maintain airspeed.
