  1. Well the gear is up for once in a flipped amphibian report. They say he was taxiing which leads one to believe he was not in a takeoff or landing phase. I wonder how fast like being on step and if he caught a rogue boat wake. I can't imagine a large wave nosing this thing over while idle taxiing.

  2. Great video, but your t=649s time tag starts the playback too late. The forward flip happens at 5:32 time hack.

Looks like he buried the float tips going downhill in the "following sea" while crossing the port side wake of the boat that had passed just before. Rookie mistake that boaters make all the time.

  3. Looks like water rudders were down and attempted turn back into wind may have been under power, combine that with the boat wake... as the rear of the floats lift the wind then assisted the nose to dig in. Wind direction shown by direction of landing. Not crossing the boat wake and (which then caught up with the AC during the turn) and lifting the water rudders to allow the AC to turn into wind would have been a better choice. A wee bit impatient...EI..racing.. A harsh exposed location to operate anyway.
