The pilot reported that, during the approach, the airspeed was about 80 knots, but he was slightly high. The pilot stated that the airplane floated down the runway further than normal before it touched down, and when he determined that he would not have enough runway to stop, he aborted the landing. The airplane did not climb as he expected, and subsequently impacted trees. The pilot added that he believed that the reason for the lack of climb was due to his failure to retract the flaps to 50%.
A witness reported that the airplane landed further down the runway than normal, departed the runway, and began the takeoff from the grass alongside the runway.
The airplane sustained substantial damage to the left wing.
The pilot reported that there were no preaccident mechanical failures or malfunctions with the airplane that would have precluded normal operation.

SAN ANTONIO - A 60-year-old pilot was able to walk away with just a scratch after the small plane he was flying crashed into a tree line near a wedding venue in Bulverde.
Johnny Garcia, a spokesman for the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, said a wedding was being conducted at The 1850 Settlement venue when the plane crashed around 2:30 p.m. Friday.
Garcia said it appears the aircraft did not have enough airspeed at takeoff and ultimately ran out of runaway at the Bulverde Airpark, which is only hundreds of yards away from the wedding venue.
"(The man) must have God watching over him," Garcia said, adding that similar plane crashes in the past have resulted in deaths.
Garcia said the plane is being kept upright by the trees and the man was able to get out on his own, unharmed and uninjured.
"That plane crashed into the correct location because any other way, (the plane) would have fell over and (the crash) would have resulted in a fatality," Garcia said.
Images of the crash site show the plane within the trees on an embankment near a creek.
The Federal Aviation Administration is now taking over the investigation, Garcia said.

A single-engine plane crash-landed Friday afternoon just after taking off from an airport in Bulverde.
The pilot, a 60-year-old man, told investigators that he was taking off from Bulverde Airpark when he ran out of runway and wasn’t able to gain enough airspeed to fully lift off, according to the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office.
The plane landed in a wooded area at about 2:30 p.m. at Cibolo Creek around a wedding reception spot called The Settlement, 29360 Bulverde Road, authorities said.
Initially, the pilot was not able to get out of the plane because it was trapped in the trees.
He eventually made his way out and was unharmed save for a scratch on his hand, deputies said.
The Cirrus SR20 is registered to William F. Pugh Jr., according to the Federal Aviation Administration registry.
The Federal Aviation Administration is now investigating the crash.

BULVERDE Texas — According to the Bexar County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 2:30 pm, a single-engine plane crashed in North Bexar County near Bulverde Airpark.
"It appears the the pilot was trying to take off, ran out of runway and crashed into some trees in the Cibolo Creek area. He landed in an area heavily brushed," said Johnny Garcia from BCSO.
60-year-old pilot William Pugh was the only person on board the plane at the time of the crash. He walked away uninjured except a small scratch on his hand.
"The plane crash happened near an embankment on the Cibolo creek. It could have been deadly if not for his crash location," said Johnny Garcia, BCSO.
“This guy was able to walk away. Our experience is this usually ends in fatality. He was lucky.”
There was some fuel leaking shortly after the plane crash.
The Federal Aviation Administration will be handling the investigation.

Wonder if the pilot ever heard of a pre TO checklist or the words "abort point". Silly accident, glad everyone is ok.
