Tselenyane told OFM News that the accident claimed the life of the pilot (30) and left a passenger injured.
He also stated that the families of the two affected houses were requested to evacuate their homes for safety reasons, until the wreckage is removed from the scene.
It is alleged that the aircraft was flying from Vryburg to Pretoria when the incident happened. No other injuries or casualties were reported on the ground.
Tselenyane added that the cause of the accident is unknown at this stage and that the Civil Aviation Authority will attend to the scene today.
It is also not clear at this stage to whom the aircraft belongs. Police have since opened an inquest docket. The charges investigated include Culpable Homicide and Negligence or Reckless flying of an Aircraft in terms of the Aviation Act 17 of 1946.

A pilot was killed and his passenger seriously injured after a light aircraft crashed between two houses near Vryburg, North West province, on Sunday evening.
The Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee struck the garage wall of one of the properties in Isaac Peloeng Street at Huhudi, near Vryburg, about 5pm. The pilot was declared dead on scene and his passenger was taken to hospital. There were no injuries to people on the ground.
“It is alleged that the aircraft was flying from Vryburg to Pretoria when it crashed. The cause of the crash is unknown at this stage and the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is conducting an investigation," said SAPS spokesperson Capt Sam Tselanyane.
“The families of the two affected residences were advised to vacate their houses for safety reasons, pending removal of the wreckage.”
A case of culpable homicide has been opened and will be investigated by the CAA.

A culpable homicide investigation is under way after a pilot was killed and a passenger injured when a Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee crashed in Huhudi, near Vryburg, North West police said on Monday.
Police spokesperson Captain Sam Tselanyane said the Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee hurtled between two houses after hitting the garage wall of one of the properties in Isaac Peloeng Street at about 17:00 on Sunday.
"According to information available at this stage, a 30-year-old pilot was declared dead on the scene whereas his passenger/crew was injured and transported to hospital. No one got injured on the ground during the crash," Tselanyane said.
"The families of the two affected residences were advised to vacate their houses for safety reasons pending removal of the wreckage."
The aircraft was believed to have been flying from Vryburg to Pretoria.
Tselanyane said the cause of the crash was not yet known.
The Civil Aviation Authority was also probing the incident.
