CAPE MAY AIRPORT – It’s not every day you get to see a meticulously restored, WWII-era B-17 Bomber and modern F-18 Fighter Jet flying over Cape May County. Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum (NASW) recently confirmed the date for a special event to celebrate America and both aircraft will join in the celebration at the Cape May Airport. “American Pride Day,” will take place Mon., June 18, 2012. The event is designed to celebrate the contributions of veterans as well as those individuals who have enabled the United States to be an innovator in the field of aviation.
The museum has partnered with the Yankee Air Museum in Michigan to fly- in with the B-17 “Yankee Lady” for this occasion. The B-17 will be at the museum all day (9-5) on June 18 and 9:00 am until noon on June 19. Experience an important part of American History and come see the bomber that won the war! Give Dad the gift of flight this father’s day! Walk-through tours of the B-17 “Yankee Lady” are included with regular museum admission. Flights on the B-17 are available for purchase; please call Dave Wright at 734-483-4030, ext. 236 to book a reservation.
Highlights for the day will include the opportunity to fly in the B-17 “Yankee Lady”, and an F-18 fly-in by Captain Samuel Paparo from NAS Oceana, VA. Additional activities for the day include beer and wine tastings (for visitors ages 21+), Chevrolet and TSA exhibits, vendors, Military Vehicles, food, and live music by the John Walters Band and Erik Simonsen & Twelve:01.
